We're all a little tired

Jack has a new toddler bed. He slept well in the first week. Got into bed, looked at books and went to sleep. Nap time was a breeze too. See how peaceful he sleeps with ALL of his stuffed animals. (the only time he left his bed that first week was to round up all of his animals and bring them into bed with him.)

This is what happened this week.

I hear his door open and a little voice say, "Hi, Mommy."
This is what I saw when I looked up the stairs.

I go upstairs to see what is going on

and Jack runs to his bed as if to say, "I've been here all along. I have no idea how my room got to be such a mess."

20 minutes later and all is quiet. I sneak in to see what is happening and I find

Jack snuggled up with his Lamby chair. He finally gave out.

I return downstairs to find this.

This is her new favorite sleep position. And yes, that is her thumb in her mouth.

(I think I might love the thumb.)

"It's a mess."

Is what Jack said to me when I came upon this scene this morning. I put him on the counter to help with making his pancakes. When I returned from getting the phone, I found this and he looked at me and said, "It's a mess." So true my little

boy, so true. So I let him play some more and then I made a new batch of batter and we had pancakes.

Ignoring Housework

I don't really feel like cleaning so I will post some cute pictures of our week.

We have a lot of fun playing with Addy. She likes to stand and giggle. She even lets her brother "carry" her. This is my current favorite outfit. Thanks again, Willa.

This is my 2 year old going on 17 chatting it up on the phone.

While I was cooking dinner, Jack brought his Cookie Monster into the dining room, set him in the chair and lined up cookies for him to eat. He even did the Cookie Monster sound effects.

I cleaned Ryan's closet on Saturday and Jack found Ryan's cowboy boots. Jack LOVED them. If I could only find a way to attach Ryan's belt buckle to Jack's pants, the look would be complete.

Wish I was there

Last June we were here in Kiawah Island, SC. Wish we were there this week too.
We could walk to the beach, the pool, the marshlands.
This is my type of vacation. I even finished a book that I read while Jack napped and everyone else swam. I was just scrapbooking some of these pictures and I had to share.
Anyone else up for a vacation?

Houston we have a problem

Hello, my name is Adeline and I am addicted to sucking my thumb.

When Adeline was able to put herself to sleep without a binky, I thought we were home free of any of those vices that are hard to give up when she becomes toddler. However, she has discovered her thumb over the past few days and won't let it go.

Addy Rolling

Here she goes. She can almost roll back to front too. She is one strong girl.

Daddy Ryan

Happy Father's Day, Ryan!

I spent all week trying to sum up how I feel about Ryan as the father of my children. Words just don't seem to do him justice. I love watching him make up special songs to sing to our children. I love to see him wrestle, play hide and seek, and look at a million on-line pictures of diggers with Jack. I love that he has a special patting rhythm to put Addy to sleep and that he loves to make her giggle. I love that he can't wait to get home from work so he can spend time with his family.

I think that how I feel can be summed up with a feeling I had this afternoon. I was holding Addy while I was eating lunch and spilled some hot food on her arm*. She started to scream and I ran into the kitchen where Ryan was waiting with a cold towel and ice. Tears streamed down my face while I tried to comfort Addy and Ryan came and put his arm around me and kissed Addy on the cheek and everything felt all right. I wish I could capture that feeling. That is the kind of man he is and I am so happy that he is Jack and Addy's father and that he chooses to be with us everyday.

*Addy is fine with no problem after she got cold water. I think I was more traumatized.

Roll on over

To celebrate her Auntie Ann's birthday, Adeline rolled over from her belly to her back.

If it hadn't been for Mrs. Finkle witnessing it too, I might have thought I was a bit delirious after staying up late last night at book club. Adeline has refused to repeat the performance for the video camera but Ryan assures me that she will do it again.

Addy Lou

We found this song by Will Hoge and think that it sums up our hopes and wishes for our baby girl. Adeline is such a sweet girl with such a happy glow in her eyes. Her smiles and snuggles warm our hearts. It feels like she has been with us forever but it has only been a few short months. Here's a flashback to her first week of life.

Sweet Smiles

Adeline is smiling and giggling now. Her facial expressions are the best because she has very expressive eyes and eyebrows. Often I find myself captivated by her and feel she is too cute for words.

Wasting Dirt

Jack helped me plant some flowers to put on our front and back porches. He loved pouring the dirt and scooping it with his shovel. He did not like planting the flowers. When I would plant a flower, he would rip it out so he could play in the dirt. He could not believe that I would waste perfectly good dirt by planting flowers in it. Dirt is for sifting, digging, spreading and throwing but definitely not for planting flowers.

I think the flowers look nice even if it ruins the dirt.
