One month and getting bigger.

Addy is one month old. Had to post some pictures to show her cute jeans.

I finally feel like we are in a groove. Jack and Addy and I have our own little routine and we've even left the house. The three of us made a trip to the store ALONE. We went to music class too. Not to mention that Addy made her debut at a church function.

We're so Proud

Jack learned two new skills this weekend.

#1 Making yourself burp.

Yep, we're really proud. He was laughing at his sister's hiccups. When her hiccups stopped he tried to make the noise himself so he could laugh at the sound. This resulted in our nearly 2 year-old boy learning to swallow air to make himself burp. I was hoping Jack would wait until he was a teenager to perfect this skill. I guess he's just really advanced.

#2 Pretending to be asleep to avoid going to church.

Again, this is something we thought would happen when he was a teenager and not when he was two. Jack was all dressed and ready to go to church. When Ryan went to retrieve him from our bed, Jack pulled the covers up and started to make snoring noises. He would have been more convincing if he had closed his eyes and not tried to look at us to gauge our reactions. He'll have to work on this.

Yeah for construction

Look what is outside Jack's window.

We're having a new water main put in on our street and we are probably the only household excited about the construction. Jack spends hours pressed up against the window to watch the diggers . I may have to make cookies for the construction workers to say thank you for distracting my two year old.

The 3 A's

Ann, Adeline and Amy

I've decided that sisters should live near each other. Living far away from family always seems easier when you aren't reminded of what you are missing.

So I think my sisters and I should move to a tropical island and sip yummy drinks on the beach.

She's going to have to move in . . .

My sister, Ann, arrived yesterday. Jack immediately forgot that he was annoyed with his mommy for not being as much fun. He said "wow" at least 30 times in the first 30 minutes of her arrival. She brought presents and laughter with her. Ann helped diaper Jack's new puppy from his Aunt Rosie and wrapped the puppy in one of Addy's blankets. He's been carrying it around since. Don't know why I didn't think of that earlier.

She also taught him a new word. He walked in the kitchen this morning and after saying "Hello," he through his arms wide open and said, "Ta Da". This is only one of the many reasons why sisters should live close to each other. (Did I mention that she took Jack to the grocery store and will be making me yummy dinners for a week too?)

Will this still fit in 6 weeks?

My talented mom made this dress for Adeline's blessing on May 4th.

I think it will fit.
OK, so maybe the bonnet will be out grown but the dress and maybe even the booties will still fit.
I think the dress is gorgeous and Ryan got some great photos of her in it. To be seen when we send out the girl's birth announcement.

A Real Dad

I loved Ryan when we were dating. I love him as my husband but I think I love him most when I watch him being a Dad. Ryan is the best!

He and Jack have the best time together.

Ryan and Jack are currently outside playing in the new snow fall.

I love the above picture because you can see Ryan turning his head to hear Jack's jabbering as they walk. I was on the back porch and could hear Jack's running commentary as they walked around the yard.

Jack was not interested in trying to do his own snow angel.
He's too busy trying to stay balanced in the snow.

Ryan goes back to work tonight after a 2 week break to be home with us. We will all miss him. Can someone figure out a way for us to be independently wealthy so Ryan can be home all the time?

Developing Relationship

Jack discovered that Addy makes sounds. Her sounds make him giggle.

As he was holding her, she squeaked and his eyes lit up with laughter.

Jack's new look

No, we did not cut his hair. Jack has developed new affect.

He will now lower his chin and raise his eyes to scowl at us. There is usually no rhyme or reason to his scowling. He may just walk through the room and scowl at you or he may be upset that you said no.

Here is the scowl.
(Click on the picture to enlarge it for better scowl viewing)

Here is the picture that Ryan snapped just 5 seconds prior to the scowl. (We looked at the time stamp on the photo) See his cheesey grin and same happy trains and helicopter.
Someone explain his scowl to me.

This one is for the Old Goat

My Dad finds it completely unnecessary for a baby to wear a garter on her head. So, I had to take these pictures just for him.

I'm sorry to tell you, Dad, but I think she looks pretty cute.

And yes, those are pink corduroy Mary Janes on her feet. Girls have such cute accessories.

Ambidextrous

What's Addy's big brother been up to since she moved in?

Well, teaching her the finer points of life. . .

Eating dinner with two spoons.

Apparently, it is a faster way to inhale your applesauce. Never a dull moment with Jack.

P.S. Jack is rather ambivalent about Addy in his life. He takes notice when her diaper is being changed or when she is nursing. He dislikes Mommy's focus on Addy but likes singing time when mommy is nursing Addy. We'll see how their relationship develops. Thank heavens Ryan is here and such a help. Jack loves having his dad around to tickle him and get hims snacks.
